Agm held on january 14th
Our Annual General Meeting took place on Wednesday, January 14th, at St. Flannan's clubhouse. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the representatives from angling clubs across the Lough Derg catchment area who attended. It was truly inspiring to witness the dedication of over 1000 anglers from various clubs, all deeply invested in our association's mission.
Lough Derg Anglers isn't just about Lough Derg itself; it's about the whole area that feeds into it. Lough Derg wouldn't be the same without all the rivers and streams that flow into it from Tipperary, Galway, and Clare. These areas are super important for the health and quality of Lough Derg. If you live in the catchment area and want to get involved, please reach out! We need more people to help us improve water quality, habitats, and biodiversity in our area.
All our work is done through match funding, so it's super important we raise as much money as possible to get as much done as possible. All clubs, committees, organizations, and businesses are welcome to join in 2026.
Our association fee for clubs for 2026 is €100, or you can just simply donate
Looking Ahead to 2026
As we start the new year, our main goals are still clear:
Water Quality: We'll keep checking EPA and ESB reports and push for better management in the Shannon basin.
We'll keep working with IFI and LAWPRO to make those river improvement projects happen.
We also want to make sure Lough Derg's voice and best interests are heard in all projects next year, like the Easter Water Supply Project, Shannon Life Project, and Shannon Migration Project.
After the success of this year's kids' competition, we're hoping to host an even bigger event like it in August 2026.
To finish up, I want to thank all of you for your passion and care for Lough Derg. It's your involvement and respect for the lake, both in your club, communities amd in the Lough Derg Anglers Association, that makes this association what it is.
Regards
Christopher O’Meara
